Epsilon
Overview
Epsilon is a multi‑level home in Bangalore designed for a family that wanted more room to grow without losing a sense of quiet. The brief asked for spaces that could hold everyday routines, work and hosting in one house, with the interior combining everyday comfort with more formal, traditional touches. The plan pulls light into the centre of the home and sets up long, calm views across living and sleeping areas, so the house feels stable even as the way it is used can change.
Developed with Urban Frame, the project focuses on how clearly drawn interiors support that atmosphere. Plans, elevations, and detail sheets resolve bedrooms, storage, bathrooms, and wall panelling to a construction level, making joints, proportions, and privacy points explicit. Epsilon is included in the portfolio as a residential case where mood, layout, and technical drawings work together, showing that the same care given to schools, clubhouses, and museums can be brought down to the scale of a home.

Design Brief
The house was conceived as an open, multi‑level residence that could frame long views to the outside while still protecting the family’s privacy. The brief called for an open plan that keeps living, dining and circulation visually connected, but allows bedrooms and family rooms to withdraw from the main spine when needed.
Interiors were expected to sit in deliberate contrast to the quieter surroundings: more layered and rich, with traditional accents, colour, and statement pieces set against broader views of trees and sky. The aim was to balance ease of maintenance with a sense of occasion, using layout, thresholds and built‑in storage so that everyday use stays practical even as the spaces feel generous and slightly formal.

Early interior views and mood boards were used to place the house between a quieter outer shell and a more expressive interior, testing how colour, traditional pieces and larger gestures sit within the open plan.

These studies linked materials, lighting and key sightlines to the brief, so the character of the home was established before drawings were taken to construction level.

Detailed Resolution and Drawings
Good‑for‑construction (GFC) drawings are used to carry the design intent into bedrooms and family spaces, with plans, elevations, sections and millwork details coordinated for on‑site use. Joinery and millwork detail set out panelling, wardrobes and built‑ins, showing how materials meet and how fixtures sit in the space. Finishes and fittings are selected and scheduled with these drawings, from material choices to basic quantities, keeping specification and construction information aligned.

Reflection & learning
The project clarified how much residential comfort depends on clear, well‑coordinated drawings as much as on atmosphere. Working through room plans, elevations and joinery details showed how decisions about heights, storage and junctions can reduce uncertainty on site, making it easier for contractors to build what has been set out on paper.
